Would I go to another Benihana? Yes, under one of two circumstances: 1) if I wanted to stuff my face beyond recognition for what is, in all fairness, pretty cheap, or 2) if I saw one in a place not really known for its sushi, Biloxi, Missisippi for example, and I wanted a “safe bet”. Having sampled what New Ashiya has to offer in terms of sushi, I never felt that I was missing out. The little bit of sushi that I had imparted its mediocrity upon my palette and I quickly realized that the focus was not the all-you-can-eat part of the equation, but the all-you-can-drink. For my friend’s birthday, that was excellent, but for those who want to go out for good sushi (and after all, that’s what we’re here to discuss) it’s just not worth it at all.
