This just came flying through my inbox from the Albany sushi meetup group… —————————- A study published in this month’s issue of Biology Letters investigated how much mercury was in restaurant tuna sushi versus supermarket tuna sushi, and correlated this to the species of the tuna via DNA [...] The new Nikko’s all-you-can-eat sushi buffet has no website yet and seemingly does not exist in the all-powerful Googleverse, as indicated by my own research and the mass of people asking me where it [...] Hard of hearing? Prone to combustion? Well then, researchers at the Shiga University of Medical Science in Japan have just what you need! Using super secret technology from the future, or something like that, they’ve invented a smoke alarm that will wake you up by blowing synthetic wasabi fumes into the air. Supposedly, it’ll wake up the average Joe (or should I say, the average Hiroto) in about 2 minutes 30 [...] Don’t know why it didn’t cross my mind to post this earlier, but better late than never! Hope to see you there! /CH o it seems that sushi made from Atlantic Bluefin may be off the menu after [...] Okay, so I’m just speculating here, but I feel that the coincidence of a US company rolling out sushi in school cafeterias across the Southern US and the release of new sushi-making robots isn’t completely coincidental. Reported by Inside Japan, the Tokyo-based company AUTEC has seven different robots to automate the manufacture of sushi [...] So it turns out that high school kids like sushi, too. Probably not surprising considering that schools feed them an onslaught of frozen food that would probably make an older, more culinarily experienced audience’s stomach churn. Finally, many decades after it’s introduction to the Western diet, sushi will take its (rightful?) place along side pizza, chicken nuggets, and taco [...] The Chicken of the Sea just got a little more [...] So just how much do you love sushi?
